Counselling for Lawyers
Bridging the Gap
Having coached hundreds of lawyers, Emily noticed a significant, yet often unacknowledged, gap between traditional behavioural and skill-based coaching and her clients’ deeper personal and mental health needs.
High-Pressure Environments
Lawyers often operate in high-pressure environments characterised by complexity, competition, and intense scrutiny.
These stressors can manifest in a variety of ways including depression, anxiety, self-confidence issues, anger management, grief, relationship difficulties, and burnout. Moreover, when lawyers did seek counselling help, they frequently reported that non-legally trained counsellors struggled to understand or address the nuanced intersection of their personal and professional challenges. This left many feeling unsupported.
Recognising the depth of this unmet need, Emily decided to bridge the gap and obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in counselling (Distinction), to deepen her ability to provide bespoke personal counselling services to lawyers. By integrating an understanding of the legal profession with advanced counselling techniques, she helps her clients navigate not just their professional journeys but also the personal hurdles that often accompany them. Her approach ensures lawyers receive comprehensive support that addresses their mental well-being informed by their professional aspirations.
Because of the highly confidential nature of this work, Emily provides counselling for lawyers on a private pay, individual basis, rather than through law firms.
